Gwynfi Miners Community Hall
Gwynfi Miners Community Hall is the heart and soul of the twin villages of Aber | Blaengwynfi and the home of Gwynfi Heritage Trails. Details of the new Heritage Centre, currently in development at the Hall, can be found below
Gwynfi Miners Community Hall opened in 1901 and was fully funded through the subscriptions of local miners. When the collieries closed however, its trusteeship passed on to the local council
In 2012, after over 110 years of continually serving the community, Neath Port Talbot Council gave notice of closure of Gwynfi Miners Hall. At the same time however, it agreed to support any local group willing to keep it open for the benefit of the community.
Residents in and around Aber | Blaengwynfi duly formed a registered charity (no. 1154423) to support and protect the Hall for the community and future generations, and are now leasing the centre to preserve its history and keep the heart of the community alive

Gwynfi Heritage Centre
With the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and Welsh Government Cultural Recovery Fund, Gwynfi Heritage Centre is currently being established in the "Clydfan Centre" at Gwynfi Miners Community Hall.
Featuring a newly located library space, IT facilities with dedicated heritage workstation and tea & coffee facilities, the centre will be a space where local residents and visitors alike can explore the library stock, enjoy a cup of coffee and explore the village's heritage and trails in detail, either via the dedicated workstation or on your own devices, via our free wifi service
A date for the official opening of the newly rebranded centre will be made available soon. In the meantime, if you have digital images of the villages and community, please contact us at gwynfiheritagetrails@gmail.com
